Player career

Tillie Voss studied at the University of Detroit Mercy from 1917 to 1920 . He played both football and basketball in college . After graduating from school, he became a professional footballer with the Detroit Tigers in 1921. In the middle of the season he moved to the Buffalo All-Americans. The team played in the American Professional Football Association , which was founded in 1920 and later renamed the NFL. The All-Americans finished first in the league, but were challenged to a playoff game by George Halas , co-owner of the Chicago Staleys . The Staleys won the game 10-7. They were thus tied and were declared champions by the league. Tillie Voss played in 1922 for the Jimmy Conzelman- trained Rock Island Independents and the Akron Pros. In 1923 he ran for the Toledo Maroons. In 1924 Voss signed up with the Green Bay Packers and was able to achieve five touchdowns in the team of Curly Lambeau - that was a team best. In 1925 he played again under Conzelman, this time for the Detroit Panthers. The team finished third in the table this year. In 1926 he ran for the New York Giants overseen by Doc Alexander . The Chicago Bears were his employer in 1927 and 1928. In his senior year he was active for the Dayton Triangles and the Buffalo Bisons. Both teams existed only in 1929. A championship win was granted to Voss. During his career he had played for 11 professional teams. This makes him the player with the most club changes in the NFL today.

In his free time, Walter Voss was active as a professional basketball player. Since most of the teams in the American Basketball League only appeared for a short time, he was forced to constantly change clubs as a basketball player.

Tillie Voss is buried in Mount Olivet Cemetery , Detroit .
