Tillmann Gottschalk

Tillmann Gottschalk (born November 15, 1905 in Lendersdorf , now Düren , † May 26, 1991 in Kreuzau ) was a dialect poet and author .

biography

Tillmann Gottschalk was the third of ten children. He learned the craft of the former in the ironworks of his birthplace. He stayed there until his retirement, most recently as a master foundry .

Career

Gottschalk was supported in his literary works by the Catholic Young Men’s Association.

From 1930 his first dialect poems appeared in Düren daily newspapers. In 1938 he published his first book under the title "Eefelblome". Poetry conferences and lectures took him to Aachen , Krefeld , Mönchengladbach , Düren, Jülich and many other places.

Honors

Gottschalk was named a "deserved citizen" in 1971 in Kreuzau, where he had lived since 1929. A street was named after him. The Landschaftsverband Rheinland awarded Gottschalk the Rheinlandtaler in 1977 .
