Tilmann Betsch

Tilmann Betsch (born December 8, 1963 in Berlin ) is a German social psychologist and university professor .

Life

After graduating from high school in Waiblingen , Betsch first studied political science , German and sociology at the University of Stuttgart from 1983 . He interrupted his studies for community service , then studied sociology and psychology at the University of Mannheim from 1986 . After his degree in sociology in 1991, followed in 1995 promotion to Dr. phil. at the University of Heidelberg , with the work The Routine Model of Action Selection . Until his habilitation in 2001 in Heidelberg, he was employed as a research assistant to Klaus Fiedler and Martin Weber .

From 2001 to 2002 Betsch took over the professorship for social psychology at the Saarland University in Saarbrücken , in 2003 he followed the call to the chair for social, organizational and economic psychology at the University of Erfurt , which he had already represented from 2002 to 2003.

Research priorities

Betsch mainly deals with the psychology of judgment and decision-making. He expanded his research area to include the development of decision-making and judgment skills.
