Tim Buktu (born January 13, 1958 in Wuppertal ; † October 10, 2011 ibid), real name Andreas Matthias Johannes Kinzel born. Müller-Eckhard , was a German musician , record producer and photographer .

Life

Even as a student in the mid-1970s, Tim Buktu lived as a musician from band engagements, graduated from high school in 1977 in Wuppertal and taught at the Free Music and Crafts School in Remscheid until 1982 . After several years of touring life as a guitarist, keyboardist, drummer and singer, including five years as a musician for Ivan Rebroff , Buktu decided to become a producer around 1986. Conny Plank and Ansgar Ballhorn were among his teachers .

In 1984 he set up the first four-track studio in Wuppertal-Vohwinkel , already under the name Manufaktur für feinste Geräusche , which he soon enlarged to eight or 16 tracks. In 1986 Tim Buktu founded the record label Pigture Disc in collaboration with Dirk Jessewitsch, which was published in series such as Pigital Masters , Pigus Rex or Manufaktur . In 1993 he enlarged the manufacture to 24 tracks, Uli Sondermann became his partner in a GbR . Since 2007 the studio has operated as Manufaktur Media GmbH with international customers and productions for small and large labels.

In addition to his musical activities, Tim Buktu also worked as a visual artist and graphic designer, drafting corporate design and company logos for companies such as Tapir Wachswaren as well as for his own record labels.

The name Tim Buktu has been registered with GEMA since 1982 and was included in the identity papers as the official artist name. The models were final scenes of some of the Donald Duck comic stories drawn by Carl Barks : Donald has to flee and walks past signposts that show Timbuktu as a synonym for an infinitely distant destination.

Since autumn 2008 the musician has been working on a new Tim Buktu CD, working title "Radioshow".
