Tim Burgess (born May 30, 1968 , according to other sources 1967 , in Salford , Manchester , England) is a British musician , best known as the lead singer of The Charlatans .

Live and act

Burgess was a singer and guitarist in various local bands in the 1980s, most recently with the Electric Crayons . In 1989, Burgess joined the Charlatans, one of the most successful British music groups of the 1990s. He is still the lead singer of the group to this day.

In 2003 Burgess, who has lived in Los Angeles , USA for several years , released his first solo album, I Believe . In addition, Burgess also had guest appearances on songs by the Chemical Brothers ( Life Is Sweet 1995, The Boxer 2005) and Saint Etienne ( I Was Born on Christmas Day 1993). Burgess also works as a DJ .

Since 2004, Burgess has also been a member of the supergroup The Chavs , which includes Carl Barât from Dirty Pretty Things , Martin Duffy from Primal Scream and Andy Burrows from Razorlight . The group performs live at irregular intervals, but has not yet released any records.
