Tinke - Little strong girl (Original title: Ulvepigen Tinke ) is a Danish children's film from 2002 . The template The Hunger Child by Cecil Bødker is widely read at school in Denmark .

action

Denmark 1850: The boy Larus, who works for farmers, finds Tinke in a hut in the forest, who has lived there alone since her mother's death. After the girl has gained confidence in him, he can persuade her to come with him to his masters' yard, not without first burying her mother. Tinke only has one chain left. While the farmer's wife takes the girl in her heart and wants to take it in, her husband rejects the headstrong, stubborn girl.

At this point, the adults found out who the mother was and that her parents owned several estates. The girl is now to be brought to them. But here, too, it is doubted that the tomboy should be the granddaughter, especially since the landlord is still suffering from the loss of his own daughter, who broke with him to go away with a man. Tinke is sent to live with her father's relatives. Larus, who left the farm to accompany Tinke, is also supposed to return. But there he finds the chain that Tinke had lost.

analysis

The film describes the story entirely from Tinke's perspective, who became self-confident and independent through living in the forest without parents. She evades the commands and restrictions of adults and cannot disguise herself, which is particularly offensive to farmers and farms. Only with her father's relatives does she find something like home.

In doing so, the film uses clichés and morals, but always in the interest of the little viewers, who enjoy strength, cheek and independence. The historical context of the story creates an additional attraction.

Reviews

“We were particularly impressed by Tinke, a really strong girl. The unique story took us into a world from 150 years ago, with beautiful pictures, with an artistic camera work and an outstanding leading actress. This film about friendship, loss and tolerance manages to open hearts. Despite her harsh fate and some threats, there is no need to be afraid for Tinke, for she goes her way with strength to an unexpected end. And you take this power with you from the cinema. "

- From the reasons given by the LUCAS jury

“The second feature film by director Morten Køhlert, who is also a musician and singer in Denmark, is based on the novel“ Hungerbarnet ”by Cecil Bødker, which is well known in his country. The book and film are set at a time when Denmark was still characterized by great class differences between predominantly poor farmers and rich landowners. In this environment, in which childhood did not actually take place by today's standards, the strong-willed title heroine not only manages to assert herself against the adults, but also to hold up a mirror to them. She convinces the elderly of the value of mutual respect and tolerance towards all people, no matter what social class and milieu they come from. Narrated humorously and sensitively from the perspective of the rebellious child, the story, which is both fairytale and realistically staged, is impressive. Above all, the young leading actress is very present and embodies her part as a strong little girl. The film is able to enchant. He has rightly been awarded prizes at several international children's film festivals. "
