Titus Schröder

Titus Schröder ( also: Tietelo Schröder ) (* 1686 in Uetersen ; † June 1726 there ) was a German clergyman and Protestant theologian .

Life

He was born in 1686 as the son of the trader Jakob Schröder in Uetersen in Holstein and raised by the provost Hieronymus von Petkum († 1713) in Itzehoe . Schröder studied theology in Jena from 1708 and from 1710 to 1712 at the University of Leipzig , where he passed his official theological examination. On Whit Monday 1717 he was elected and introduced to preacher of the village church in Breitenberg . In 1718, on September 22nd, he married his wife Anna Maria geb. Stemann (* 1698). In 1725 he left the Breitenberg after he was elected pastor of the monastery church in Uetersen on July 29 of the same year . Titus Schröder died at the age of 40 around St. John's Day in 1726 in Uetersen.

Titus Schröder was considered a wise man who was well versed in the history of Holstein . He was in the service of King Friedrich IV of Denmark and Norway and was entrusted by him with higher ecclesiastical tasks outside of his Uetersen parish. On October 1, 1725, King Friedrich IV instructed him not to grant the right of church patronage to Count Wilhelm Adolf zu Rantzau before the final conviction in the murder case of Imperial Count Christian Detlev zu Rantzau . Wilhelm Adolf zu Rantzau was later sentenced to pay a fine of 20,000 Reichstalers and was imprisoned in Akershus fortress near Oslo until the end of his life .
