Tjako van Schie

Tjako van Schie (born April 17, 1961 in Coevorden ) is a Dutch pianist and composer .

Life

Tjako van Schie was trained at the Zwolle Conservatory . He then attended several master classes, including with the New York pianist Jacob Latiner .

Since 1994 he has been répétiteur at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and since 1999 he has been a visiting professor at the Conservatory in Porto ( Portugal ). In 2001 he went on tour to the People's Republic of China. In the same year he gave concerts in the Netherlands and Portugal with the Orquestra Portuguesa de Saxofones , also known as Vento do Norte .

Van Schie is also a composer and arranger. He wrote compositions for various ensembles and edited classical music for new instrumentations. For example, he edited compositions by Robert Schumann for piano and saxophone ensemble.

Van Schie lives in the Dutch province of Overijssel .
