Tjorben Uphoff (born September 8, 1994 in Hanover ) is a German soccer player . The defender played for various regional league teams and has been under contract with Wuppertaler SV in the Regionalliga West since 2018 .
Career
Uphoff began his career at the Hanoverian district association Sportfreunde Ricklingen and in 2007 joined the Werder Bremen youth team . After three years he went to FC St. Pauli .
In 2013 he moved up to the second team at FC St. Pauli , which plays in the fourth-class Regionalliga Nord and had a regular place in central defense there. Apart from a short stint for the professional team in the second division in September 2014, he played for two years for St. Pauli's amateurs and took a midfield position with the team.
For the 2015/16 season , Uphoff moved to the second team of FC Schalke 04 in the Regionalliga West. He also spent two years there as a regular player in central defense. After his first year with the amateurs of the Royal Blues ended with a place in the middle of the table, the Schalke second representation rose to the fifth division after the 2016/17 season . For Uphoff this meant his departure from the Ruhr area, the next station was the sports association 07 Elversberg in Saarland , one of the top teams in the Regionalliga Südwest . There he was hardly used at all, his competitive games were limited to a short stint in the league, two games in the Saarland Cup against lower-class opponents and a game for the second team in the sixth-class Saarland League . During the winter break he dissolved his contract and joined Wuppertaler SV . In Wuppertal , again a regional league, things went better for the now 24-year-old: regular place in central defense and third place with the team in the Regionalliga West . In the following season , the former Bundesliga club only managed to place in midfield and Tjorben Uphoff has been team captain there since summer 2019 .
