Tolata is a small town in the department of Cochabamba in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

Tolata is the central place of the district (Bolivian: Municipio ) Tolata in the province of Germán Jordán on the 490 km² fertile plateau of the Valle Alto . The village is located at an altitude of 2711  m , 14 km east of the dam of the Laguna La Angostura , the largest reservoir in Bolivia. Right on the outskirts of Tolata, the foothills of the Cordillera from Cochabamba rise up to 3,600 m.

Tolata lies in the transition area between the Andes mountain range of the Cordillera Central and the Bolivian lowlands. The mean average temperature of the region is around 18 ° C (see climate diagram Cochabamba) and fluctuates only slightly between 14 ° C in June / July and 20 ° C in October / November. The annual precipitation is only around 450 mm, with a pronounced dry season from May to September with monthly precipitation below 10 mm, and a humidity period from December to February with 90 to 120 mm monthly precipitation.
