Tom Beetz (born December 12, 1986 in Suhl ) is a former German Nordic combined athlete .

Career

At the Junior World Championships in 2005 and 2006 he won three gold medals, in both years with the team and in the sprint in 2006, plus a silver medal in the individual in 2006.

At the age of nineteen, he finished his first World Cup race in March 2006 in Lahti, Finland , in 40th place. Although he is not yet regularly used in the World Cup, he was able to secure 99 points in the 2007/2008 overall ranking and thus 38th place. His best individual result at the end of the season was a 22nd place, achieved in the individual at the traditional Holmenkollen in Oslo . In the 2008/2009 season , shortly before the turn of the year, he achieved eleventh place at the Gundersen competition in Ramsau am Dachstein, his best result in the World Cup to date. Further results followed in January at 20th place before he had to pause due to a viral illness. Finally, a little later, a heart muscle inflammation forced him to end the season early, with 66 points he finished 45th in the overall World Cup. After an inpatient stay in hospital, he was only allowed to start training again in June 2009. Because of the lack of training, he did not contest any international competition in the following season .

Tom Beetz, who lives in Biberschlag with his parents Cathrin and Jörg Beetz , starts for SV Biberau. Together with his older brother Christian , he started in Liberec for the first time in a World Cup race in 2008 . Her father was also a successful Nordic combined athlete. Tom Beetz attended the Oberhof sports high school until 2008 .

He gave up his sporting career as a combined athlete in 2013 due to recurring serious illnesses. He has been involved in equestrian sports for several years and works as a trainer and riding instructor at the Little King Ranch in Ribbeck.
