Mass start (15 km / HS140)
The mass start took place on Friday, July 18, 2008. It was the first and so far only mass start at a German championship. After running over 15 km, two competition rounds were carried out in ski jumping. The calculation set 4 seconds per point and 15 points per minute as a guideline. Eric Frenzel won his first championship title in an individual discipline. After he had the best running time, he secured victory in the second jump with the longest jump of the day. The best jumping performance was shown by Marinus Kraus , who had already destroyed his chances of winning in cross-country skiing.
