Date: Friday, January 29th and Saturday, January 30th, 1960
The Nordic Combined Championships were split over two days so that the ski jumping was held on Friday and the cross-country skiing on Saturday. Initially three jumps were carried out, but only the best two jumps were considered. The 22-year-old defending champion Georg Thoma from Hinterzarten benefited from this rule because he fell on the third jump. With his previous jumps of 86 and 82 meters, Thoma laid the foundation for his championship title in jumping and went into cross-country skiing as the leader. After a running distance of 15 kilometers, he finally won his third championship title in a row ahead of the Ruhpolding Eberhard Plenk and Edi Lengg from Reit im Winkl . Karl Lindner from Willingen had the best running time, however , who had completed the route after 46:59 minutes and was two minutes faster than Thoma.

Georg Thoma also won the ski jumping championship , although the favorite and reigning Four Hills Tournament winner Max Bolkart even set a new hill record with his second jump of 91 meters. The special jump run was held in front of a crowd of 20,000 people in excellent weather. Due to the warm weather, snow had already been brought in from the Feldberg in the run-up to the championships .
