The 34th German Nordic Ski Championships took place in February 1951 in Neustadt in the Black Forest . A cross-country skiing championship for women was held for the first time, followed by a ski marathon again after a ten-year break. The venue for the ski jumping competitions was the Hochfirstschanze .

The first two of the 18 km cross-country skiing, Albert Mohr and Karl Vogel, could not defend their lead. The winner of the ski jumping was O. Acker from Munich , whose chances for the podium after the cross-country skiing were already hopeless. 36 athletes took part in the combined jump on the Hochfirstschanze . Anderl Hechenberger became the German champion.
