Tom Beugelsdijk (pronunciation [ ˈtɔm ˈbøː.ɣəls.ˌdɛi̯k ]; born August 6, 1990 in The Hague , South Holland ) is a Dutch football player . The central defender has been playing for ADO Den Haag in the Dutch Eredivisie since August 2015 .

Career

Beugelsdijk comes from ADO Den Haag's youth . At the club from his hometown, he initially had no prospect of a place in the first team, so that ADO awarded him to FC Dordrecht for one season in 2010 . In the Eerste Divisie , he was able to prevail immediately and won a regular place in the central defense of the second division. He was voted Player of the Year by the radio and television station RTV Rijnmond and thus successor to national player Ron Vlaar . The loan was renewed for another season before Beugelsdijk returned to his home club in 2012.

He also performed well in the Eredivisie and became a crowd favorite of ADO fans within his two years. Before moving to Germany, Beugelsdijk was seen as the “most valuable player” of his team in the 2013/14 season , which the team coached by Henk Fräser finished ninth in the table. English clubs also showed interest in the long defender. He decided, however, for the second German league in order to initially assert himself abroad, to develop further and thus to recommend it for larger clubs. The reason is that too many Dutch first division players have failed at the highest level abroad.

He signed a two-year contract with FSV Frankfurt for the 2014/15 season . After just one season he moved back to the Netherlands and signed a three-year contract with ADO Den Haag .
