Tom Götze (* 1968 in Dresden ) is a German bass player and professor at the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music in Dresden for double bass and electric bass jazz / rock / pop.

Life

Götze's musical career began in Dresden. From 1984 to 1990 he studied tuba , bass guitar and double bass at the Carl Maria von Weber Academy of Music .

Since his studies in the USA ( New York and Los Angeles ) in 1992/93 , he has worked as a musician in the styles of jazz , rock , pop and classical music as well as an acting musician (including the Dresden State Theater).

Since 1989 Götze has been part of the Dresdner Dand Dekadance , with which several albums were created. He worked with numerous well-known artists such as Mike Stern , Pet Shop Boys , Armin Mueller-Stahl , Günther Fischer , Till Brönner , Adam Rogers , Manfred Krug , Richie Beirach , John Schröder , Gitte Hænning , Uschi Brüning , Jiggs Whigham , Chester Thompson , Pascal von Wroblewsky , Günther “Baby” Sommer , Rhani Krija , Sven Helbig and Günter Hörig together. With Arkady Shilkloper , Florian Mayer and John Wolf Brennan he forms the group Pago Libre; he works with Stephan Bormann in the 10string Orchestra .

As a founding member of the Dresden Symphony Orchestra , he is regularly involved in their projects, also as a soloist.

Götze is married and lives with his family in Dresden .

Tours

Guest performances and tours have taken him to Mexico, Canada, Cuba, Scandinavia, England, Spain, Italy, France, Austria, Russia, China and Switzerland, among others.

Since 2012 he has been teaching as a professor for double bass and bass guitar at the Carl Maria von Weber Academy of Music in Dresden .
