Tom Schönherr

Tom Schönherr (born August 8, 1954 in Stuttgart ) is a German designer and co-founder of Phoenix Design .

Life

Tom Schönherr studied product and industrial design at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart . After completing his studies, he worked as a designer at frog design and founded the design studio Phoenix Design in Stuttgart in 1987 together with Andreas Haug . Schönherr received the highest national and international design prizes for his work in the capital goods industry, entertainment electronics, communication electronics, household appliances and sanitary ware. So he designed z. B. the appearances of companies such as Hansgrohe , Loewe, Viessmann and Duravit. The branded products of these companies have become German and international components of everyday culture. He is also a juror at the iF Industrie Forum Design and the German Design Council for the awarding of design prizes and is co-author of the book "Das Diktat der Markenführung" ( Gabler Verlag ). Tom Schönherr is on the advisory board of the "aed Association for the Promotion of Architecture, Engineering and Design in Stuttgart eV".

Awards

Tom Schönherr won the international Lucky Strike Designer Award in 1998 . In 2012 he received the German Design Award in the "Personality" category, which is closely linked to its forerunner, the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany . Together with Andreas Haug, the designer received the German Design Prize for their life's work. In total, Tom Schönherr received over 500 awards with Phoenix Design. Other well-known prizes are the iF gold award for the "Individual Line | TV" contribution for Loewe AG and the state award of the Baden-Württemberg International Design Prize "Focus in Gold" 2011.
