Thomas Walsh (born April 22, 1983 in Arlington , Massachusetts ) is a former American ice hockey player who played in the course of his career between 2002 and 2010 in the American Hockey League and the SM-lliga on the position of defender .

Career

Walsh began his career in 2002 at the renowned Harvard University , where he played for a total of four years until 2006. During this time, the San Jose Sharks had already selected him in the NHL Entry Draft 2002 in the fifth round in 163rd position.

After completing his college education, the Sharks hired him and initially employed him with the Fresno Falcons , their farm team in the ECHL . In the course of the 2006/07 season Walsh then moved to the Worcester Sharks , another San Joses farm team, in the American Hockey League . At the end of the season, they equipped him with a standard AHL contract. After a full season in the AHL, in which he scored 36 points in 76 encounters, he left North America and moved to Europe in the Finnish SM-liiga for the capital club HIFK Helsinki . After another season with the Belfast Giants in the Elite Ice Hockey League , he ended his career.
