Tommi Eckart
Tommi Eckart (* 1963 in Berlin ) is a German music producer and composer . He was best known as a member of the band 2raumwohnung , which he founded together with his partner Inga Humpe .
Life
Eckart was born in West Berlin and spent part of his childhood in Munich . Together with colleagues he founded the punk band Alternative Arschlöcher . In addition, he also played in other bands such as the DAGOWOPS , in which Monika Dietl was also involved. The collaboration with Andreas Dorau began towards the end of the 1980s and lasted until the 1990s . Both produced a total of three records in the field of electronic pop music , which, however, were hardly commercially successful. Their joint work included, for example, the single Alright ( MSF Records ) and the album Neu! . After the fall of the Berlin Wall , Eckart moved to the eastern part of Berlin, where he lived in a former eavesdropping apartment belonging to the Ministry for State Security . In 1992 he founded the trance project Transform and Perry & Rhodan with Ralf Hertwig from Palais Schaumburg , which released the single The Beat Just Goes Straight On & On on Rising High Records in 1993. He also worked with Klaus Löschner .
In 1993 Eckart met his partner Inga Humpe , with whom he first produced a song for the advertising of the cigarette manufacturer Cabinet . For this they used the project name 2raumwohnung , which later became the official name of the duo. From 2001 to 2013 Eckart and his partner published a total of seven albums with predominantly German-language electro pop , of which 36 Grad from 2007 was the most successful. 2raumwohnung has been awarded a gold record three times , the duo has sold a total of over 700,000 records. In addition to working for 2raumwohnung Eckart also performed as a DJ with Inga Humpe .
