Toni Tuklan

Toni Tuklan , or Tuklan for short (* before 1970 in Lagos ), is a Nigerian-German rapper and reggae musician.

Life

Education and early career

Toni Tuklan was born in Lagos and studied at the Kwara Poly School in Ilorin , Kwara State , Diploma in Marketing, Social Management and Community Development . In 1994 he came to Germany with the help of his older brother, a professional footballer who played in the major leagues. Tuklan began a second degree in mechanical engineering in Paderborn , but also occupied himself with reggae music and began making music full-time in 1996. In 1997 he started working with his younger brother, reggae musician Massiv Rex . The two appeared together at the Cologne Ring Festival in 1999 , followed by appearances in the Netherlands and Poland and a collaboration with DJ Tomekk .

breakthrough

In 2013 Tuklan had his first major commercial success when he and the Italian musician Vito Lavita performed the summer song Danzare , which reached 94th place in the German and 42nd Austrian charts. The World Cup song Illumina followed in 2014 with Edu Casanova .

Tuklan's breakthrough came in 2015 with the hit Ebony Eyes , which he recorded with Sean Paul , Rico Bernasconi and A-Class . The piece reached number 28 in the music charts in Germany, number 3 in the DJ Top 100 , number 10 in the Dance 50 and number 3 on the Spotify charts. In Italy, Sweden, Australia and the Netherlands, the song made it into the top 10.

In 2016 Tuklan was voted into the top 10 most influential Africans by the African Heritage Magazine , received an award as UN Eminent Ambassador of Peace and received several awards at the event The 100 Living Legends in Hamburg .

Private

Tuklan has lived in Werne , North Rhine-Westphalia , since 2010 .
