Tony Gregory (* 21st June 1946 ) is a Jamaican musician , R & B - Soul - and reggae - a producer and composer .

Life

Gregory attended Alpha Boys School until 1954 and received a scholarship to train in the church choir of St George's Cathedral in Kingston under the direction of Healey Willan . In 1957 he won first prize on Vere Johns ' legendary radio talent show on Radio Jamaica RJR 94 FM. His career as a professional musician began in 1958 as a member of the Bertie King Big Band , in 1960 he became lead singer of the Byron Lee and the Dragonaires formation for three years .

With artists like The Drifters , Chuck Jackson , Dionne Warwick , Ray Charles and Sammy Davis Jr. He toured Central America , the United States , Canada , the Bahamas and the United Kingdom . Gunter “Yogi” Lauke brought him to Germany to join his vocal ensemble Family Tree , founded in 1972 , in which he sang until it was dissolved in 1975. In 1976 he founded the TeeGee Songs label in Germany .

In the early 1990s he married the Italian Nina Tarallo, who was born in Minervino Murge , and went back to Jamaica with her, where he founded the Sunland Music label and the Gregory Entertainment Limited event agency . He also dealt with the control of the observance of copyrights of domestic and international composers. Today (2014) he runs the TarGre Music Production label in Saint Ann's Bay and lives in Higgin Town , Saint Ann Parish . In recent years he has also been active again as a musician.
