Minervino Murge is an Italian municipality with 8604 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Barletta-Andria-Trani , Apulia region . Before 2008, the municipality was part of the province of Bari .

geography

At Lake Locone

The municipality is located on the Murge plateau , on the north-western edge of the Alta Murgia National Park . Six kilometers west of the village is the Lago Locone reservoir , which has dammed the Locone River with a dam since the 1980s .

The neighboring towns of Minervino Murge are Andria , Canosa di Puglia , Lavello (PZ), Montemilone (PZ) and Spinazzola .

Minervino Murge has 4,145 private households . Since the peak of the population in 1951, the population has been falling steadily. Between 1991 and 2001 the population fell from 10,982 to 10,213.
