Tony Leung Ka-Fai

Tony Leung Ka-Fai ( Chinese  梁家輝  /  梁家辉 , Pinyin Liáng Jiāhuì , Jyutping Loeng 4 Gaa 1 fai 1 , Cantonese  Leung Ka-Fai ; born February 1, 1958 in Hong Kong ) is a Chinese actor. He was active in over 120 films as an actor and was involved in two films as a producer.

Life

In Hong Kong's film circles, Leung Ka-Fai is often called "Big Tony" because of his physique, because of the difference to his younger actor colleague Tony Leung Chiu Wai ("Little Tony").

Leung studied acting at the Hong Kong TVB Acting School, but dropped out after 9 months. He got his first film role in 1983 from the director Han Hsiang Li ( Lee Hang-Sheng ), the father of his girlfriend at the time, in The Burning Empire . For his debut, he received the Hong Kong Film Award for Best Actor.

He then developed into a busy actor in Hong Kong cinema, but also played leading roles in international productions such as The Lover (1992) by Jean-Jacques Annaud .

family

Tony Leung Ka-Fai married Jia-Nian Jiang in 1987. They have two daughters: Chloe Leung and Nikkie Leung.
