Tony Lewis Tolbert (born December 29, 1967 in Tuskegee , Alabama , USA ) is a retired American football player. He played defensive end in the National Football League (NFL) with the Dallas Cowboys .

Career

Tolbert played at the University of Texas at El Paso and was committed in 1989 by the Dallas Cowboys in the fourth round NFL Draft in 1989 in 85th place. Already in his first year as a professional he was used in the defense of the cowboys and was able to score two sacks . The team of the Cowboys had been built up by the team owner of the Cowboys Jerry Jones and the coach of the team Jimmy Johnson from young, success-hungry players and developed into the dominant football team of the 90s.
