Toon Wegner

Toon Wegner (born November 12, 1926 in Rijswijk (South Holland) , † February 17, 2010 in Orvelte ( Drenthe )) was a Dutch painter and graphic artist from the New Hague School (Nieuwe Haagse School). Willem Jacob Rozendaal , Paul Citroen and Willem Schrofer were Wegner's teachers.

Life

From 1942 to 1947 Wegner studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague , and has since worked as a painter, graphic artist, lecturer, consultant and jury member for the Netherlands, Nicaragua and Hungary . Toon Wegner studied and traveled with Co Westerik . He is a master printer. He was awarded the Jakob Maris Prize for graphics twice and the Aesculaap Prize and the Van Beek Prize once . He had a scholarship to Finland and Hungary. He received the culture award of the province of Drenthe . Wegner is a member of Pulchri Studios in The Hague and of the Professional Association of Visual Artists. He has lived and worked in Orvelte since 1967 , previously in The Hague , where he also runs workshops for artistic printmaking. He works regularly with German artists from Leer and Heidelberg . He has held numerous solo exhibitions, including in Amsterdam , Belgrade , Brussels , The Hague, Germany , Finland , Maribor , Novi Sad , Slovenia , Toronto , Washington, DC and Zagreb , and collective exhibitions in Belgium , France and Switzerland .
