Top Western Islands (Torres Strait)

Top Western Islands refers to an island region in the Torres Shire administrative district of the Australian state of Queensland . The area includes some Torres Strait Islands in the northwest of the Torres Strait waterway near the south coast of Papua New Guinea .

In the Top Western Islands region, there are in particular the Talbot Islands (with the main island Boigu ) and the islands of Dauan , Saibai and Kaumag located 30 km southeast of it and the Turnagain Island located 25 km south . The uninhabited islands of Deliverance Island , Kerr Island and Turu Cay , some 65 to 100 kilometers further west, are also among the top Western Islands.
