Tordis Maurstad (born December 24, 1901 in Kristiansund as Tordis Witzøe , † January 10, 1997 in Oslo ) was a Norwegian film and theater actress.

Life

Maurstad debuted in 1923 as Sara, Johan Falkberget -Stück Fjellsjøheidningen in a production by Edvard Drabløs . All in all, she worked at Det Norske Teatret for over 50 years , where she was considered one of the ensemble's most iconic actresses, with a demanding repertoire. Maurstad was also active in several other Norwegian theaters, where she also appeared in several performances in various roles. In addition to the theater, she also became known in Norway, through her various appearances on the radio and as an actress in film and television. In the film Liv , she made her debut in front of the camera in 1934 in the role of Liv Haugen . Maurstad was made a Knight of the Order of St. Olav .

Tordis Maurstad was married twice, first to the actor Alfred Maurstad from 1925 to 1943. From this marriage came their son Toralv Maurstad , who also became an actor. After the divorce, she lived with the writer Jakob Sande for a while, but was married to the writer and playwright Helge Krog from 1949 until his death in 1962.
