Torsten Thrän (born December 21, 1977 ) is a former German biathlete .
Torsten Thrän took part in the Junior World Championships in Forni Avoltri in 1997 with great success . In the individual he missed the top ten in fourth place, in the sprint he was runner- up behind Jay Hakkinen from the USA. In the season he was world champion with Karsten Kapinos, Alexander Wolf and Jörn Wollschläger . In addition, he won the bronze medal in the team race with Norman Koehler, Wollschläger and Kapinos. The highlight of the 2000/01 season were the 2001 Military World Ski Championships in Jericho , where he finished 36th in the sprint. In the 2001/02 season , he participated very successfully in races of the Biathlon European Cup several times, especially in relays . With Gunar Bretschneider , Daniel Graf and Andreas Stitzl he was third in the relay in Jablonec nad Nisou and was used as the final runner. A week later, Thrän won the relay race in Jáchymov alongside René Gerth , Carsten Heymann and Stitzl. Already in 1997/98 he was tenth, Biathlon European Cup 2000/2001 sixth in the overall ranking in the European Cup. After his active career, Thrän became a ski technician and in this position looks after Christoph Stephan, among others .
