The nineteenth stage of the Tour de France 2004 led back to Besançon in an individual time trial over 55 kilometers from Besançon on a circuit.
The start took place every two minutes, or for the last 20 drivers every three minutes, in the reverse order of the overall ranking . Lance Armstrong was able to clearly distance his opponents and won the 19th stage with ease. Jan Ullrich was second ahead of Andreas Klöden . After the stage, Andreas Klöden was second and Ivan Basso third in the overall standings .
