Três Corações ( port. Three Hearts ) is a city with a good 70,000 inhabitants in Minas Gerais , Brazil . It advertises Terra do Rei Pelé ("Land of King Pelé"), who was born here in 1940.
The place is similar to the neighboring Varginha, about 20 km to the northwest, about 300 km away from the three most important metropolises of Brazil, São Paulo , Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte .
In 1760, the Portuguese Tomé Martins da Costa was looking for gold from a farm founded here on the Rio Verde . Shortly thereafter, the chapel of Santíssimos Corações de Jesus, Maria e José was built. The city was founded in 1886.
