Transalpine run
The Transalpine Run (abbreviated TAR; full name DYNAFIT Transalpine Run) is a stage run in which teams of two cross the Alps in seven or eight days . Since it was first held in 2005, it has been one of the most demanding mountain runs in Europe with a route length of 200 to 300 km and around 15,000 meters of altitude to be mastered .

The first eleven editions of the Transalpine Run were initially run on the west route, in alternate years on two routes with some new stage destinations and slightly different routes: the eastern route led the meantime around 600 athletes comprehensive participants from Ruhpolding to Sexten , the West route from Oberstdorf to Sulden (from 2015) and Latsch (until 2013).
The Transalpine Run 2016 was run on a completely new route. After starting in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , the route crossed the border to Austria and made guest appearances in the two Tyrolean towns of Lermoos and Imst . We continued via Mandarfen in Pitztal and Sölden across the Italian border to St. Leonhard in Passeier . The seventh and final stage finally ended in Brixen . There was no longer a mountain sprint stage, the event was shortened from eight to seven stages. A similar route was run in 2017 as in 2015. Because of too much snow in the high areas, an alternative route was run on the first two stages. The penultimate stage location Prad was new .

Record winners are Thomas Miksch (8 ×) and Irene Senfter (6 ×). Due to the different routes, the times are not comparable.
