Transat AG2R La Mondiale
The Regatta Transat AG2R La Mondiale (until 2010 at the latest and in the jargon: Transat AG2R , see AG2R La Mondiale ) is a transatlantic regatta for two-man teams in two stages. The first stage leads from the French south Brittany (originally from Lorient , since 2006 from Concarneau ) to Porto Santo ( Madeira ), the second from there to Saint-Barthélemy in the Antilles . The total route is approximately 3,710 nautical miles . "Outside" and " routing " support"(Route planning according to weather forecast) or individual weather forecast analysis are not permitted according to regatta rules.
The Transat AG2R has been held every two years since 1992. Participating boats are without exception monohulls of the Figaro Bénéteau unit class, popular in France (meanwhile: Figaro Bénéteau II); as a result, the field of participants is even more dominated by French than in other French offshore regattas. According to Michel Desjoyeaux, the first regatta in 1992 was the first time that the Figaro-Bénéteau boats were sailed over such a long regatta route.
The Transat AG2R is organized by the company Pen Duick SAS (status 2010). To make the regatta "safe", Pen Duick requires prior regatta and ocean experience as a prerequisite for participation; it can be proven through a previous AG2R participation or through participation in one of the regattas Transat BPE , Solitaire du Figaro , Route du Rhum , Vendée Globe or Transat Jacques Vabre . Otherwise, the Organizing Committee can also recognize other previous regattas or further experience or, if necessary, request a qualification run by the two-man team (as of 2011).

↑ En 1992, c'était la première fois que les Figaro Bénéteau 1 faisaient un parcours aussi long. Nous ne partions pas exactement dans l'inconnu mais pas mal de mâts étaient tombés lors des saisons précédentes. Nous ne savions donc pas très bien si nous arriverions à traverser entiers dans les alizés et si nous pourrions nous permettre de pousser les bateaux à fond jusqu'au bout.
