Trap Nation is an American YouTube channel based in Los Angeles , California . The channel is used to support and represent current music from the field of electronic dance music with a strong focus on trap and trap- related music styles such as future bass and love trap .
Trap Nation serves as the flagship channel in the YouTube network “The Nations”, which includes the Bass Nation , Chill Nation , House Nation , Indie Nation , Rap Nation and R&B Nation channels . Since the record label “ Lowly Palace ” was founded, its channel has also been part of the network.
As of August 2017, “The Nations” has been the largest music channel network on YouTube with over 23 million subscribers. Trap Nation is currently the 74th most subscribed channel on YouTube.
Trap Nation has around 550,000 followers on Instagram .
history
Trap Nation was founded in September 2012 by Andre Willem Benz at the age of 15. His inspiration for the channel came from his love of video games and electronic music on the internet.
Trap Nation quickly gained new subscribers in less than a year. This was due to uploads like San Holos Remix to Dr. Dres The Next Episode , which received several million views within a few months.
By the end of 2016, Trap Nation was consistently in the top 10 fastest growing YouTube channels, receiving an average of 70 million new views per week.
Trap Nation currently holds one of the largest independent playlists on Spotify with over 1 million followers and an average of 200,000 monthly listeners.
Lowly Palace
In September 2016, “ Lowly Palace ”, an independent record label, was founded. In less than a year, the channel reached almost 100,000 subscribers.
Events
In 2016, Trap Nation hosted its first live event in Danbury, CT , where Botnek and Lookas performed.
South by Southwest
In March 2017, Trap Nation and Chill Nation partnered with Monster Energy Outbreak House on a series of community events at South by Southwest (SXSW) that featured artists such as Illenium , San Holo , Whethan and others.
Electric Daisy Carnival
In June 2017, Trap Nation hosted the Electric Daisy Carnival's (EDC) largest art car event , reaching over 4,000 people. The line-up consisted of acts like Alan Walker , Troyboi, Boombox Cartel , Autograf, and others.
Trap Nation was also an official Insomniac sponsor at the event alongside Sunglass Hut , Uber , Smirnoff, and Corona .
Awards
In 2015, Trap Nation was named to YouTube's 10 Favorite Music Partners. Trap Nation is also among the top 100 preferred electronic dance music channels by Google.
As of June 2017, Trap Nation was the 44th most subscribed channel on YouTube and had accumulated more than 5 billion total views. Trap Nation was ranked # 1 in the Dance Curator category on YouTube by Billboard alongside Monstercat , MrSuicideSheep, Proximity and Majestic Casual.
