Trauma is an American heavy and speed metal band from San Francisco , California that was formed in 1980, disbanded in 1986, and reunited in 2012.

history

The band was formed in 1980, with Metallica bassist Cliff Burton being a founding member. After the band was already heard in 1982 with the song Such a Shame on the compilation Metal Massacre II , the first album, Scratch and Scream , followed in 1984 via Shrapnel Records . The band at that time consisted of guitarists Ross Alexander and Michael Overton, bassist Lucas Advincula, drummer Kris Gustofson and singer Donny Hilliers. The album featured Leather Leone as a background singer, who would later join Chastain . Two years after the album was released, the band broke up.

In 2012 the band was re-formed by the two founding members Don Hillier and Kris Gustofson.

On February 10, 2013, the band played a concert in honor of Cliff Burton, who died in 1986 and who would have celebrated his 51st birthday that day. At the concert, the band played previously unreleased song material written by Burton.

In February 2015, the band released their second album Rapture and Wrath on Pure Steel Records 31 years after their debut album .

style

The band played a mix of speed and power metal on their album Scratch and Scream . The use of guitar solo here was characteristic. The tempo in the songs was often reminiscent of Judas Priest or New Wave of British Heavy Metal bands.
