action

Inza comes from the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire ( Ivory Coast ). After the death of his father, his family decided that he should go to Europe . He managed to get to Italy via Libya and the Mediterranean . Numerous refugees from the Ivory Coast arrive in Turin . From there he wants to cross the mountains to France , which is not possible for the time being due to the onset of winter. His mother, aunt and grandmother went into debt in order to buy him out of a Libyan prison. Now they urge him over the phone that he has to make money. The camera accompanies Inza almost permanently, during conversations, visits, phone calls and when watching football . Unlike a friend, he can leave the refugee camp to live with his friend Michelle and her child, who gives him and other Ivorian refugees shelter. He has another friend in France whom he knows from her vacation stay. After the two women found out about each other, however, the Frenchwoman lets him stand in front of the door when he arrives in France after several failures when crossing the border.

Post-history

At the film premiere in Berlin's CinemaxX , the director said that Inza later reconciled with the French woman and that the two will be married shortly.

criticism

For Thekla Dannenberg, the reviewer at Perlentaucher , the film opens up an “irritating look at the issue of migration ”. He shows "the lives of African refugees with shocking honesty: the pressure they are exposed to from their families at home. The cold they have to cope with in Europe." But he leaves you "somewhat in the dark, how much documentation is about him or what is staged."
