Tremsdorf is a street village in the Brandenburg district of Potsdam-Mittelmark and is located on the western edge of the Nuthe-Nieplitz-Niederung nature reserve .
Today it is part of the community of Nuthetal , which emerged from a voluntary amalgamation of five previously independent localities. Tremsdorf is the only district south of the A10 .
history
The exact time when the site was built is not known, but can be dated to the beginning of the 12th century. The place was created by the amalgamation of several small settlements of individual clans settled in the area.
The first documentary mention was made in 1375 as Trebinstorf and Trebenstorp . The place is named after a man with the Slavic personal name Treben . Tremsdorf was originally a fishing village at the northern end of the Grössinsee and owned the fishing rights for the Grössinsee. From 1474 the inhabitants of the village were obliged to operate salt production through the construction of new salt pans in order to contribute to the supply of the electoral court. Over time, however, the salt pans lost their importance and were abandoned in the Thirty Years' War .
Instead, more and more arable land around the place was gained through amelioration , which began in the time of Friedrich II . Most of the time there was livestock farming. Stagnant, shallow water turned a lot of land into bog and was not suitable for growing grain. To this day, the area behind the Ofenberg near Tremsdorf (towards Saarmund) is a moor, known as the Venn. According to legend, a peaceful giant used to live on the Ofenberg, the origin of which is not clear, but who threw stones when people annoyed him.

On October 26, 2003 Tremsdorf was incorporated into the new municipality of Nuthetal.
