Triforin is a mixture of three chemical compounds from the group of chlorinated and substituted nitrogen heterocycles (more precisely the piperazine derivatives ).

Triforin hydrolyzes in water. In the absence of water and exposure to UV light, one of the two side chains splits off relatively quickly.

Powdery mildew, completely diseased plant (phlox)

Triforin is used as a fungicide when plants are attacked by mildew and rust fungi , for example . Use in fruit growing is prohibited due to accumulation in the food chain.
