Trimesic acid , besides the hemimellitic (1,2,3-benzenetricarboxylic acid) and trimellitic acid (1,2,4-benzenetricarboxylic) one of three possible position isomers of benzene tricarboxylic acids .
Extraction and presentation
Trimesic acid is made by the oxidation of mesitylene .
properties
Trimesic acid is a beige solid that is soluble in water. It is able to form a large number of complexes through hydrogen bonds and comes in two hydrate forms (dihydrate and 5/6 hydrate).
use
Trimesic acid is an important raw material for the synthesis of varnish resins, plasticizers , polyesters , additive to epoxy resins , dyes , etc. It is used to modify linear polyesters.
