The Trinity Railway Express (abbreviation TRE ) is a regional train in public transport in Dallas and Fort Worth , which is operated jointly by the local transport companies of the two cities. The regional train was named after the Trinity River , which flows from Fort Worth to Dallas.
The line has its east end at Union Station west of downtown Dallas. From there it runs past the American Airlines Center through Irvin and Dallas / Fort Worth Airport via Hurst and Richland Hills to the T&P station in downtown Fort Worth.
history
The Trinity Railway Express was inaugurated shortly after the Dallas light rail opened in 1996 and initially only ran between Dallas and Irving. On September 18, 2000, the line was extended to Richland Hills, creating the first train connection between the airport and Dallas. On November 13, 2001, the route was extended to its current end point in Fort Worth.
The route is traveled by Bombardier BiLevel double-decker cars hauled by EMD F59PHI locomotives .
Connection to the airport
Since 2000/2001 there has been a shuttle bus from the CentrePort train station to the Dallas / Fort Worth International Airport . Alternatively, there has been a direct connection from Dallas to Terminal A with the Orange Line of the DART light rail since 2014 and since 2019 with the TEXRail line from Fort Worth to Terminal B.
