The Trisselwand (also Trisselberg and Trisselkogel is) a 1754  m high mountain in the Dead Mountains in Austria . The approximately 1,000 meters above Lake Altaussee towering mountain with its distinctive, 600-meter-high cliff applies in addition to the loser as a mountain of the community Altaussee . The striking west pillar, also called the Preuss pillar, separates the west wall from the south-west wall.

Surname

The name Trissel (wall) is most likely derived from Old Slavic "drstelj" (= lime, crushed rock, sand).

Say

High up in the Trisselwand is the striking Trisselbergloch , a semi-cave . According to legend, the wild women used to live there . Today the Miglon [ miɡlɔn ] are said to live in the cave .

Routes to the summit

  • From Altaussee town center ( 712  m ) over the Tressensattel ( 963  m ) on path no.233, walking time around 4 hours.
  • Climbing routes through the Trisselwand west face and south west face ( III + to VII- ), entry at the Gamsstelle ( 1300  m ).

The south-west face was first climbed in 1906 by Karl Greenitz, Franz Kleinhans and Hans Reinl via the Reinlweg ( III and II ), the west pillar was conquered in 1911 by Paul Preuss with Grete Loew and Hans Hüdl in free climbing style ( V and IV ) and the west face was finally conquered in 1935 by Kurt Reifschneider and Franz Krippner ( V ).
