history
Even in the tribal times, this place was an important Slavic cult center. It is believed that the place was visited by some legendary Christians from the later 10th century: Andrzej Świerad, Hermit Urban, Benedykt von Skałka. The local church was built on the site of the pagan grove in the 11th century, probably destroyed by the Tatars around 1241, and rebuilt in 1347. Nevertheless, it is the oldest on Dunajec. On the other bank of the river, the Tropstein Castle was built in the early 13th century and first mentioned as Tropsztin in 1231 (today in the village of Wytrzyszczka). The first mention of the village appeared in the year 1325/1326: the parish [ Stanislaus plebanus ecclesie de ] Sancto Swerado in the Peterspfennigregister in the dean's office Nowy Sącz (New Sandez) of the diocese of Krakow . The name Świrad was also used for the village in 1382 and for the parish in the 16th century.
Politically and administratively, the village belonged to the Kingdom of Poland (from 1569 in the aristocratic republic of Poland-Lithuania ), Krakow Voivodeship , Sącz District. The local church became the seat of an Arian congregation during the Reformation . H. of the Polish Brothers .
During the first partition of Poland in 1772 Tropie became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire (from 1804).
In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Tropie came to Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II .
From 1975 to 1998 Tropie was part of the Nowy Sącz Voivodeship .
