Trusen is part of the Trusetal district of the town of Brotterode-Trusetal in the Schmalkalden-Meiningen district in Thuringia .

Trusen is located in the north-western Thuringian Forest in the valley of the Truse between the Saarkopf in the west and the Baiersberg in the east . Together with Herges-Auwallenburg to the north , Trusen forms the place Trusetal. The state road 1024 leads from Brotterode to Breitungen / Werra .
history
Trusen was first mentioned in a document in 1057. The place belonged for centuries to the office of Herrenbreitungen in the Hessian rule Schmalkalden and only came to Thuringia in 1944.
On July 1, 1950, the municipality of Trusetal was created through the merger of the towns of Herges-Auwallenburg , Trusen, Elmenthal and Laudenbach , into which Wahles was incorporated in 1994 . Trusetal then merged with Brotterode-Trusetal in 2011.
