Tsantsabane ( English Tsantsabane Local Municipality ) is a local municipality in the ZF Mgcawu district of the South African province of Northern Cape . The seat of the municipal administration is in Postmasburg .

Tsantsabane is the Setswana term for “many shiny stones”, for example hematite . Many minerals are found in the municipal area, the mining of diamonds and manganese ore is an important economic factor.

In 2011 the community had 35,093 inhabitants. Of these, 52.8% were black, 37.6% colored and 8.4% white. The mother tongues were 54.5% Afrikaans , 32.8% Setswana , 2.4% isiXhosa , 2.3% Sesotho , 2.3% English and 1.1% isiZulu .
