Tschapajewo ( Russian Чапаево , German  Prappeln ) is a place within the Moscow Rajon of Kaliningrad (Koenigsberg (Prussia)) , the capital of the Russian Oblast Kaliningrad ( Koenigsberg region ).

Geographical location

Chapayevo is located in the southwest of the city of Kaliningrad , six kilometers from the city center. A side road runs through the village and connects Kaliningrad with Laskino (Godrienen) and Golubewo (Seepothen) . A separate train station (until 1945 "Prappeln", today called "Kaliningrad-Mamonowski") is located on the railway line from Kaliningrad to Mamonowo (Heiligenbeil) to continue to Poland (former Prussian Eastern Railway ).

history

The village once called Prappeln was first mentioned in 1425.

1874 it came to the integration into the newly established District Kalgen in district Königsberg (Prussia) and Administrative district Königsberg the Prussian province of East Prussia .

In 1910 the number of inhabitants was 336. By 1933 it rose to 547.

On April 1, 1939 Prappeln lost its independence. Like Haffstrom (no longer existing), Prappeln was incorporated into the municipality and the city district of Königsberg (Prussia) .

In 1945 Königsberg came to the Soviet Union . The city was given the Russian name "Kaliningrad", while Prappeln was renamed "Tschapajewo" in 1946. In 1947, Chapayevo was assigned to the Baltic Rajon , a district of Kaliningrad , but has been part of the Moscow Rajon since 2009 , in which the Baltic Rajon was absorbed.

church

The predominantly Protestant population of Prappeln before 1945 was parish in the parish of Haffstrom (Russian: Schosseiny, submerged place), which belonged to the parish of Königsberg-Land 1 within the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union . The last German clergyman was Pastor Herbert Steinbach .
