The FSV 1883 Nuremberg was a sports club from the Middle Franconian city of Nuremberg . The football department played for two years in what was then the first-class Gauliga Bayern .

history

The club was founded in 1921 under the name Turn- und Sportverein 1883 Nürnberg e. V. (TuSpV 1883 Nuremberg) as a merger of the clubs Turnverein Neu-Ley (founded 1883), Turn- und Fechtverein Nürnberg (founded 1902) and Turnverein Muggendorf (founded 1889). In the course of the clean divorce , the football department split off from the gymnastics club in 1924 and called itself FSV 1883 Nuremberg . The first national success was the promotion to the then first-class district league Northern Bavaria for the 1927/28 season , with the club being relegated directly to the penultimate place.

In 1937 the association Ballspielclub 1921 Nürnberg transferred to the FSV Nürnberg due to the lack of an own sports field . In the 1938/39 season , the club won the district league and was thus allowed to take part in the promotion games to the Gauliga Bayern . After victories over VfL Neustadt / Coburg and 1. FC Straubing , Nuremberg are promoted to the first-class Gauliga. The first Gauliga season in 1939/40 was a number too high for the club, there were only two draws and no victory, so that the club was knocked off the last. However, since the Gauliga Bayern was enlarged for the coming season, there were no relegations this season and Nuremberg was allowed to play another season first class. The sports field was bought by a circus entrepreneur, so that the club suddenly did not have its own sports field. For this reason, the FSV Nürnberg rejoined its parent club, the TuSpV 1883 Nürnberg and continued to play in the Gauliga under this name. The 1940/41 season began just as disastrous as the first season, so that the club withdrew after eight games with eight defeats from the Gauliga to the district league. The district league was won in return, so that the club again took part in promotion games to the Gauliga, but this time Eintracht-Franken Nürnberg had to admit defeat.

After the Second World War , the club was founded on November 16, 1945 under the name Fußballsportverein Gostenhof 1883 Nürnberg e. V. founded again. In the 1948/99 season, the club made the leap into the second-class Bavarian regional league. In 1950/51 and 1951/52 the club played again in the, now third-class, 1st amateur league . In 1998 it was merged with ESV Nürnberg-West Fürth to form SG Nürnberg Fürth 1883 e. V.
