As in all divisions, the round was initially suspended after the first day of play due to the outbreak of World War II . FC Nürnberg was able to recapture the title, which this year had to deal with BC 1907 Augsburg as the toughest competitor. In the subsequent final round of the German championship , the "club" failed in the preliminary round at SV Waldhof Mannheim. Since the 1940/41 division began in two seasons and was briefly increased to 13 teams, the promoted VfR 07 Schweinfurt and FSV Nürnberg remained in the Bavarian upper house , who were on the relegation places . The Würzburger Kickers and Schwaben Augsburg rose from the district classes .
