The Gauliga Bayern 1938/39 was the sixth season of the Gauliga Bayern in football. In contrast to the previous rounds, an exciting race for the title developed this season. The 1. FC Nuremberg was long with newly promoted BSG WKS Neumeyer Nürnberg (formerly ASV Nuremberg ) at the top par, but in the end triumphed Followers 1. FC Schweinfurt 05 . After the team around the national players Andreas Kupfer and Albin Kitzinger had the upper hand at the newcomer Neumeyer Nürnberg with 0: 1, the Schweinfurters also won with the old masters Nürnberg with 2: 1 and became Gaumeister for the first time. In the first final round of the German championship in the club's history, 1. FC Schweinfurt just barely missed the semi-finals. Newcomers VfB Coburg and Schwaben Augsburg had to relegate from the Gauliga , and in their place were the winners of the promotion rounds VfR 07 Schweinfurt and FSV Nürnberg in the 1939/40 round .
