Tucker Vorster (born September 3, 1988 in Pretoria ) is a South African tennis player .

Career

Tucker Vorster already played tennis on the ITF Junior Tour and was the best-placed junior player in South Africa at the time and the South African junior winner. He studied at the University of Mississippi , where he played college tennis for the Rebels . He and his team won the SEC Tournament Championships and the SEC West title.

On the professional tour, Vorster mainly competes in the third and second class ITF Future Tour and ATP Challenger Tour . So far, he has won six singles and ten doubles titles on the Future Tour. In singles, he once made it into a quarter-finals on the Challenger Tour. In doubles, he was more successful as a serve-and-volley player with high service . He won his first title on the Challenger Tour alongside his compatriot Nicolaas Scholtz in 2016 in Aptos . They prevailed in the final against the duo Mackenzie McDonald and Ben McLachlan in three sets. With this success he achieved his best position in the world rankings with the 258th place . He is now no longer in the top 1000 in both singles and doubles.

Vorster made his debut for the South African Davis Cup team against Russia in 2013 . He lost with Raven Klaasen the double against Konstantin Kravchuk and Andrei Kuznetsov . He has a single balance of 5: 2 and a double balance of 0: 1.

After he played his last tournament in December 2017, the national umbrella organization for tennis in South Africa announced that Vorster would get to know the administrative processes of the association for a few months. According to Vorster, however, this is not a withdrawal from active tennis, but just an opportunity to be involved in a new side of tennis. Vorster has been playing for the South African beach tennis team since mid-2018. He started with the national team of South Africa at the ITF Beach Tennis World Team Championship and finished 18th.
