The Fleckberg tunnel is a railway tunnel on the new Ebensfeld – Erfurt line in Thuringia between the route kilometers 138.023 and 139.513.

It crosses under the Fleckberg , between the communities of Masserberg and Katzhütte , and therefore bears his name. The length is 1490 m.

Two tracks with slab tracks run in the tube , which can be traveled at up to 300 km / h.

history

The tunnel was the last of the 14 tunnel to tunnel under the Thuringian Forest , 11 July 2011 solemnly struck . Birgit Diezel , President of the Thuringian State Parliament , acts as the tunnel sponsor . It triggered the first demolition at the south portal, and the Thuringian Transport Minister Christian Carius was also present at the ceremony . The breakthrough at the north portal was on February 29, 2012. The official celebration followed on March 6, 2012.

The total cost is 31 million euros.

On August 26, 2017, a rescue exercise with more than 633 rescue workers took place in the tunnel.

Another exercise with more than 1,500 participants followed on June 22, 2019. A transformer fire was simulated on one with around 500 travelers. There were deficits in digital radio and communication with emergency services for psychosocial workers.

The tunnel has an emergency exit at kilometer 139.023, which leads to the outside via a 405 meter long rescue tunnel above the north portal. The tunnel is passable and equipped with passing points and a turning point at the end of the tunnel.

Construction work

The tunnel was blasted from south to north. The approximately 400,000 cubic meters of excavated material was stored at the Masserberg landfill ( 50 ° 31 ′ 53 ″  N , 10 ° 59 ′ 54 ″  E )
