Video excerpt from "God sees everything / iron"

At the beginning of April 2016, Selfmade Records released the first video God sees everything / iron to Turbo . This was created under the direction of Markus and Michael Weicker from The Factory . The second video was the piece Broken Knieboogie and published on the YouTube channel 16bars.TV. Another music video produced by The Factory was released on April 22nd, Mofa . Shortly before the album was released, the video Neighbor Quarter Terrorist followed , a collaboration with the rapper Frauenarzt , which is included on the limited edition of his album Mutterficker .

In addition to the videos, a snippet was published by Selfmade Records on May 11, 2016 , in which the songs from the album are presented in extracts . In addition, Andi made the piece Das Karate Andi available exclusively to the hip-hop magazine Juice . This appeared on Juice CD No. 133.

reception

success

Turbo rose to number two in the German album charts . After eight albums in a row, it is the first publication by the Selfmade Records label that did not reach number one in the charts. In Austria, Karate Andi reached position eleven on the album charts. Turbo also entered the Swiss charts at number 19 .

criticism

Axel Weidemann discussed the album in the "Album of the Week" section in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung . Karate Andi is “ a milieu that has become a word ”, shows “ hunger for argument ” and comes “ with a hulking punk attitude. "In terms of content, the rapper moves" somewhere between world weariness, the intoxication of cheap synthetic drugs and phantasized prostitution ", so that Turbo remains thematically manageable despite the" polished Proll platitude and stupidity ". In addition, " every rough pose [...] is followed by a punchline that exposes the preceding to ridicule ". Andi's lecture is characterized as " leaning back " and his beats as " juicy and multi-layered ", which means that they form " a welcome contrast to the over-the-top roar of the popular German rapeseed ". Nevertheless, Turbodoes not ignite until the end. "

The e-zine Laut.de rated Turbo with four out of a possible five points. From the point of view of the editor Laura Sprenger, " content parallels " can be drawn from Andi to KIZ , Favorite , Trailerpark and Deichkind . In terms of style, Turbo iscrazy battlerap, which is all about being the craziest. “Sprenger also finds praise for the characteristic“ polysyllabic rhyming chains, pop culture references and ambiguous details. “As an exception, the pieces Spiegel and Schwarzer Krauser prove to be“ lame fillers. “The musical development is positively highlighted, which resulted in“ a varied instrumentalization ”of“ sometimes powerful, sometimes playful and lulling high-end beats ”. In contrast, Andi's debut album “ suffered from mostly half-baked beats from the producer 7inch. "

In the German hip-hop magazine Juice , Turbo received four and a half of a possible six “crowns”. According to Daniel Schieferdecker, Karate Andi spits his " hard-to-digest chunks of text with a powerful voice with his phlegmatic trademark delivery " about the productions of Bazzazian and Farhot. While the beats from 7inch were still the “ weak point ” of the debut album, the background music on Turbo Andi seems like “ tattooed on the plauze”. “In terms of content, there is no difference to Pilsator Platin . The focus is on " the wackness of the competition and the glorification of the filthy Neukölln lifestyle ". The song Eisen is the “ undisputed hit of the record ”. In some cases, Turbo also contains concept songs such as Dress Your Mother , which is characterized as a love song with a “ subtle masochistic undertone ”.

Norbert Haslam stated in a review for Rap.de that Karate Andi did “ everything right ” on Turbo . The album is “ much better produced than its predecessor. "Apart from the" brighter, positive mood "of the song" Kleid Your Mother "," the entire playing time over a darker sound image " prevails . The production of the song Game of Life is positively highlighted, which sounds “ as if the beat had been sampled directly from a slot machine. “The pieces let's stay and your mother's dress are called“ highlights ”. In summary, Karate Andi “ really didn't let his new label bend ” and his album Turbo could be described as a “ further development ”.
